The developer had submitted a planning application for a barn conversion. The site was only ever used as a farm but the Local Planning Authority had placed contaminated land conditions upon the development with the initial step being a Phase 1 or “desktop” Environmental Assessment.
Our approach
We undertook a Phase 1 contamination assessment, which was completed within five days and submitted to the Local Planning Authority. Although the assessment concluded that there was a low risk of contamination at the site the Local Planning Authority required confirmatory soil sampling.
We prepared a simple scope of works and completed the sampling to the satisfaction of the Local Planning Authority. Following the sampling works we prepared a concise assessment report which was submitted to the Local Planning Authority.
