The proposed development comprised the repurposing of a one-storey commercial premises into a two-storey residential dwelling. The local planning authority had highlighted the potential for abandoned historical coal workings beneath the property and associated mine gas risk that could pose a potential risk to the development.
Our approach
Our Phase 1 assessment included a detailed review of historical borehole records in the vicinity of the property to determine if any abandoned coal workings were present. We also undertook a search of the planning authorities planning portal for relevant ground investigation data in the immediate vicinity of the site.
