Our Approach
Our team of flood risk consultants completed a Flood Review. Our flood reports are highly detailed and easy for homebuyers to understand with the full report being delivered by our experts within three days.
The assessment was undertaken by experienced flood specialists and combined high-resolution mapping, national and local flood datasets, historic flood records and property-level elevation modelling. Building thresholds and ground levels were analysed to understand how water could realistically affect the property. The final report included clear, property-specific guidance, practical resilience recommendations and straightforward expert interpretation to support the client, their solicitor and their lender.
Outcome
The Property Flood Review gave the client a clear and accurate understanding of the true surface water flood risk, the likely insurance position, and any practical resilience measures worth considering. With a concise, expert-backed report delivered in only three days, the client was able to progress confidently with the purchase, and the concerns raised in the solicitor’s search were resolved without delaying the transaction.
Testimonial
“After receiving a solicitor’s report highlighting a significant flood risk that contradicted the overall government rating for our house purchase, we were nervous and considering withdrawing from the transaction. Ashfield gave us a detailed and more balanced breakdown of the actual risk and the underlying causes, allowing us to make an informed decision. A speedy service; everyone we spoke to was friendly, professional and helpful. The whole process took around 5 days from our initial contact to receiving the report, which gave us all the information we needed. I could not recommend them more.
Thank you very much for sending the report. This was exactly what we were looking for and we’re very impressed with the level of service. The report was clear and the follow up advice you gave me over the phone was appreciated. We simply would not have proceeded with the purchase without your report“
Further Feedback From The Client
1) Was the report easy to understand and interpret?
I understood everything in the report and it gave me the information I needed to make a decision. My only comment would be, as a lay person, how the main diagram on page 5 relates to the 3 depth and likelihood diagrams wasn’t 100% clear. There was more than enough information for me to decide and it’s a minor observation that I hope may be useful rather than anything that caused an issue.
2) Was there anything in the report that surprised you, or that you hadn’t considered before?
We were looking for clarity on a somewhat vague report we’d received back from the solicitor’s searches, so none of the headings or data came as a surprise to us. What it gave us was some of the detail on what may be causing issues and detailed risk information that allowed us to decide, rather than one vaguely alarming paragraph in the other report.
3) Did the report prompt you to seek further information, negotiate, or take any mitigation steps?
Not as such, one of the reasons we were so pleased with your service was the fast turnaround time as we would really like to complete before Christmas. The report gave us clarity to make decisions, and the risk falls within our risk appetite. We are hoping to commission yourselves to come to the property and complete a full survey once we’ve moved in as we will likely invest in some additional mitigations, however we were happy enough this didn’t need to happen ahead of time.
4) Would you recommend our service to others?
Yes, definitely, we have had a lot of poor customer service during this purchase and increasingly it seems to be the norm. Your company has been the exception. We were very impressed with the speed, responsiveness, helpfulness and value for money.
5) Have you used, or would you consider using our services again for future purchases?
As mentioned above we are hoping to commission a full survey, but we would also definitely use the service again if the need arose.
